A return to print. Moritz Neumüller, executive curator of the exhibition Photobook Phenomenon

Moritz Neumüller, an independent curator and director of the European Master of Contemporary Photography  (European Master of Contemporary Photography), is the executive curator of the exhibition Photobook Phenomenon. The other curators include important faculty members of IED Photography such as Martin Parr, Erik Kessels and Horacio Fernández.

Photobook Phenomenon is an exhibition hosted between the Centro de Cultura Contemporánea de Barcelona and the Fundación Foto Colectania. With more than 500 publications, it is a multifaceted vision and dialogue of perspectives on the history of photography and contemporary visual culture.

At a time of great digital saturation, there is a return to the printed object, in which, along with technologic advances, photobooks find a great opportunity. A perfect space for experimentation of creativity in the independent publishing of books and fanzines.

At IED Master we are aware of this revolution and because of this the European Master of Contemporary Photography works with important artists, photographers and theoreticians in the various fields of editing, layout and production, training professionals who are capable of telling stories using photographs.

Next, Irene de Mendoza and Moritz Neumüller, curators of the exhibition, will describe the concept of photobook and its relevance in current visual culture.
