Lúcida is the publication made by the students of the Postgraduate Course in Documentary Photography and Reportage, within the Master of Professional Photography of IED Madrid. A magazine that shows the work done by young professionals in the field of documentary photography as the final project of the programme.
How the use of mobile devices is changing the way we interact with the world, what messages are hidden in modern tattoos or where the men are on Sunday afternoons when the old women are at mass; these are some of the stories that the photographers wanted to convey.
Most of the works compiled in the publication were carried out in the city of Madrid and its surroundings, at the end of 2017 and the start of 2018. A work born with the aim of creating awareness of the power of the image, its place in society and in our daily lives.
Photography still is a tool of repression and control, a useful device in the fields of the news, the fashion and advertisement industry, tourism, but also in medicine, psychology, and in the realms of political and ecological activism. And the new possibilities opened up by digital image-making, social media, and the open boundaries of the photographic medium make it even more unique, powerful and vulnerable than ever before.
What an exciting moment to become a photographer!
